My self-portrait

This is my very first Media assignment, it requires to use photos,recordings,videos and texts to represent myself in a different way.  When I saw the word ‘ self -portrait’, I asked myself who am I,  where am I different from others? so I decided to show things that I love and enjoy.

Text: The most important thing is to enjoy your life,- to be happy,-it’s all that matters.

I love the green plants especially the succulent plants, they have exuberant vitality. This cute one has a name” Haha”, because I feel happy every time when I saw she.  I am excited to see its growth everyday and love that kind of energy which can encourage me to be positive as well.

This is only a part of my candles collection, I adore candles. I light it up when I read books, when I do assignments, when I watch films, when I clean my apartment etc. I enjoy the vanilla scent most, it could calm me down and makes me happy.

I am a huge fan of lipsticks, I have nearly 50 lipsticks  in my collection. In my male friends’ opinions, lots of them are just the same colors , but to me they are all look so different . I can’t go out without wearing lipstick, it is the same feeling as I go out without wearing clothes.

I love dessert. Cheese cake, carrot cake, cupcakes they are all my favorites. This is the chocolate cheese cake I had last weekends with my friends in a adorable dessert shop in Collins St.

I love baking in my free time. I know it looks weird in the photo, but it tastes nice actually, and it was my second time making Baozi with Pandas on it. Although I could find lots of Chinese food in Melbourne, I still prefer cooking by myself.

Juice is my favorite drink, it is healthy and tasty. I always make juice at home, I like to  put different fruits  into the juicer, then press the button, and wait 10s,  and down!  Fast and easy.

Photos represents a frozen moment of the past, it records lots of beautiful moments.

The first recording is a self-introduction, it is the best way to tell the world about myself using my voice.

The second recording is a classical song called ‘Nocturne’ from a brilliant  musician Chopin. When I asked my boyfriend “what do you think of me? He played this song to represent me.

The last recording is from one of my favorite film  ” Intouchables”. I am still learning playing the piano from my boyfriend, and  he is a piano teacher. And this is the song that I play with my boyfriend together. I also use it as my dancing background music.

The sound of recording invites audience to use their imagination , it covers lots of meaning which cannot be explained by language. Everyone have different understandings and views.

 

When I was thinking about self-portrait in  different ways,  I decided to just make a ‘self-portrait’. I used corn powder, black rise, green beans, cranberry, lipstick, and my glasses to create a figure that looks like me.

I’m a dancer, dancing is an important part of my life. So I make a video showing my silhouettes when I was dancing.

I asked my boyfriend to describe me in his point of view, so he plays a song called ‘Nocturne’ from Chopin. He is my first piano teacher, so he means a lot to me as well.
