This was my first shoot for my MILK project. I used a Sony MC50 to quickly get frames and shots that I wanted on location, and used this as a storyboard to plan my next shoot. I used my friend, James, as the participant so that I could sketch out where I wanted each actor to be, and to see the effect of the reaction shots.
In my final edit of this version of MILK, I decided not to use any sound or to colour grade it, because I wanted to focus on the actual to-and-fro of the reaction shots. What I really like about this version is that the reaction shots are between the same person, which still gives it a surreal feeling, which is what I was aiming for for the whole project. The idea of looking at oneself, outside of rules of space and time, is further explored in all my later versions of MILK. I think, in this instance, that it also adds a layer of humour to film.
Finally, I added the titles at the beginning and the end to tie the whole project together.
