And so it ends, not quite just as it began.
Thought reflecting back on the semester of Networked Media would be a good way to finish the term. Our relationship hasn’t always been as easy and forthcoming as I perhaps would’ve liked it to be, but I have decided that there’s something to be gained from Networked Media.
Things I think I did well this semester:
- Handing in the assignments on time, and at a standard I was pleased with
- Maintaining an engaging blog
- Posting more regularly than I thought I would’ve
- Attending about 75% of the lectures
Things I think I perhaps didn’t do so well this semester:
- Primarily, the readings. I’ve always had trouble keeping up to date with course readings, and this isn’t a problem specific to this course. I think I could’ve definitely put more effort into being prepared for class, perhaps my habit of just attending wasn’t enough
- Posting on my blog. After week six, it was all downhill from there, as I’m sure you’ve noticed. Posts became less and less regular, although when I did post I’d argue that the content never varied in terms of quality, I think that I put a lot of effort into my posts and quality was always maintained
- The Nikis. I’m ashamed to say that the Lawrence Lessig niki and this week’s 9Gag niki weren’t my finest work. But I was happy with the Google search and “The Long Tail” niki, so that’s a 50% hit rate… Not too shabby I guess
- Attending the lectures – there is always room for improvement here. In my defence, it was my only class on a Tuesday, so attending as many as I did is really some kind of miracle of willpower.
Although I started this course on quite a disparaging note, I think Networked Media and I are generally in a good place. In any case, thanks for the memories Net-Med.
