Same as the past two days, I started the day by first waking up to my phone alarm. After turning the alarm off I went straight to check my social media notifications (Facebook, twitter & messenger.). I saw the news on twitter of the London Westminster attacks and people’s reactions and articles linking to the news. I followed the hashtags, and articles to get some info and updates as the day progressed to get more info and see what was going on. Of course as the news first hits, the information is quite scarce, so I made sure to keep checking back online for news updates, as new info was being surfaced.

Later in the day, during a Uni break in classes, I got a chance to check my YouTube subscriptions and watch some of the latest content I hadn’t seen. I find myself going to YouTube now, rather than watching TV shows, because it’s more accessible, I can access it when it is convenient to me. While there is ALWAYS constant new content being added, that is socially relevant and recent to what is happening in the world (following trends). So while I find myself following the YouTube rabbit hole most days, finding content to keep entertained or just procrastinate from doing other things, such as writing this blog post.

In my afternoon class for Uni, we made use of the online space, using the RMIT live broadcast studio to start testing our live online show. While using and testing live tweeting along with it, to help build our understanding of the possible spectrum at our disposal for authoring content online. The purpose of the live tweeting, was to help build an audience engagement, to bring the audience in and use the online space to make them feel involved with what they are watching. We used the studio capabilities to bring the live tweets with out hashtag onto the screen as the show went on. So white a different day with online media in some ways, and typical in others.
