Though I began my day the same as most, checking my phone (while being wary of my phone data use, on account of the no internet at home this week) and seeing the notifications on my social media. I watched some gaming videos from YouTubers I enjoy, and even friends of mine that have channels themselves. The main difference today compared to the rest of the week is I caught up on some podcasts that I listen to that had been building up through the week. In fact I’m listening to one right now as I write this post. I’m listening to The Joe Rogan Experience, with his guest Colin Moriarty, who is the guy I support on Patreon with all those News Blasts I’ve been writing about in previous posts. Two people I listen to colliding on a podcast to discuss politics and gaming. All things i love. They discussed media trust, which I think is relevant as to why I listen to the two of these guys talk on a podcast in the first place. My online media use, and how I consume media and news isn’t by turning on the TV and listening to channel 9 or something. I have an online web, with people like Joe and Colin who I trust. They aren’t a media conglomerate who have an agenda. They are two guys just trying to talk about relevant topics and share ideas with listeners. I can see Donald Trump post about fake news on twitter every day, but he’s right in the fact that many (myself included) don’t completely trust the media and news outlets. There’s so many other spaces online I can go, and the fact that I listen to podcasts like the one I am right now for free is a big reason why I don’t need to trust the media. Because there are SO many alternatives to go to for information online. I try my best to make use of that.
