I have recently been so consumed online by political videos, ideas and personalities. So the main media I have been consuming over the past 24 hours has been related to that. I spent several hours last night and this morning watching political videos (Ben Shapiro, Dave Rubin, Colin Moriarty) trying to further my political understanding on various economic, historical and social issues. There’s various types of content I consume, that I do not engage directly with (i.e. commenting, sharing and or interacting with.) Though with such a diverse range of content online and on YouTube, I managed to find spaces on topics that I am very passionate about. This lead me not just to share some of these ideas and videos on sites such as Twitter, but to also engage and support those who author this content through crowd funding sources. This morning, Colin Moriarty (An online creator, I watch) launched a patreon page for his new projects, a platform to support the content we consume by funding it. I became a sponsor, meaning i am donating monthly for him to creator the content I enjoy consuming. Optional, however it makes me feel not only more involved with the content but also feel as though I am helping build an online community that I can engage with frequently. Becoming not just a consumer but directly affecting the content I consume and interacting with creators and other viewers is something so interesting and different than what i have been used to doing online.

Using Twitter also I shared such ideas and videos/people I find interesting. Keeping in touch with creators and their upcoming content, and reposting articles & videos I enjoy or find interesting. This gives me not only a space that has content I enjoy and ideas I have posted on one space, while also being able to share those things with other people and start discussions. I find Twitter to be one of the best online sharing platforms, for just initiating discussion and sharing those in a public forum.
