Semester 1 2017 – Studio Allocations

You can see what studio you’re in here – B’Comm Media Semester 1 2017 Studios

A reminder of some important earlier advice: No studio swaps.

When STS (Student Timetable System) opens on Friday, 17th February 2017 your studio times will already be entered into your individual timetable. Do not change these. (The Studio Coordinator is the only person who can change studio allocations).
Full individual studio guides will be uploaded to Blackboard during the week before the start of semester.

All should’ve sorted their timetable before now

Students with clashes between their studio time and any lectures/screenings of core courses (i.e. required context strand courses) should write to Paul ASAP but,…. studios with spaces are very limited

Sem 1 2017 DRAFT timetable (@10Dec2016)

The draft studio timetable follows. See also the ‘clash map’ below it which shows any legitimate clashes with lectures and screenings of context courses. As previously advised students with clashes between their studio time and any lectures/screenings of core courses (i.e. required context strand courses – not elective) should write to the Studio Coordinator [paul.ritchard@rmit.edu.au] in the period 1st-14th February 2017, just before Student Timetabling System opens (17th February), to request a change to their next studio preference. Timetable clashes will not be processed before these dates. Also note that when STS (Student Timetable System) opens on Friday, 17th February 2017 your studio times will already be entered in to your individual timetable. Do not change these. (The Studio Coordinator is the only person who can change studio allocations).

Please note we are 95% certain that this will be timetable when semester one starts … but stuff happens and there may yet be minor changes beyond our control.

Semester 1 2017 – Ballot

Here is all the info you need to cast your ballot for the semester 1 2017 Media Studio’s. Please make sure to read all the relevant info. You must be logged into to your RMIT google account to access these links/documents.

  1. FAQ – Media Studio Ballot
  2. Semester 1 2017 – Media Studio Book
  3. The link to the google ballot – which closes at 5pm SUNDAY 6th November

Just a reminder of the important dates

  • Wednesday 2nd November enrolment on line (ELO) opens
  • Sunday 6th November 5pm BALLOT CLOSES
  • Monday 28th November studio allocation posted to this site
  • Friday 17th February 2017 – STS opens
  • Monday 27th February – CLASSES START

Please note: It’s not ‘first in, first served’ in terms of filling individual studio places. So you don’t have to rush. Read the descriptions carefully and think about what might be a stimulating focus for your media learning this semester. Remember it is just one semester – many of you will do more  studios and those that won’t have already experienced comparable work in the courses these studios replace.

We can’t guarantee allocation to your first preference studio, or even possibly your top three (it depends how everyone votes), but we are hoping the spread of interests might be diverse enough that for this round we can get everyone in to one of their three.

Do tick ‘Send me a copy of my responses …’ at the end of the form so you know you have submitted and have the option to edit later if you need to.

Questions or problems: email rachel.wilson@rmit.edu.au (Studio & Course Coordinator)

Helpful tip: IF YOU GET A MESSAGE THAT ‘YOU NEED PERMISSION: TRY CONTACTING THE OWNER … ‘ THEN CHANCES ARE YOU ARE STILL SIGNED IN TO A NON-RMIT GMAIL/GOOGLE ACCOUNT. GO INTO ANY GMAIL ACCOUNT IN ANY BROWSER AND ‘SIGN OUT’ (TOP RIGHT – CLICK ON THE DISPLAYED EMAIL ADDRESS OR USER ICON). NOW START AGAIN AND LOG IN TO YOUR RMIT GMAIL ACCOUNT.

Semester 2, 2016 Media Program Studio Ballot

Download this single pdf file, Media Studios Sem2, 2016 for descriptions of the studio options for this coming semester.

Also read this explanatory document – Studio & Ballot FAQs – about the process. It has especially important information about potential timetable clashes. (Here is a copy of the Sem2_2016 Media Timetable Clash Map).

To be eligible to ballot you have to be enrolled in COMM2625 Media 2 or COMM2627 Media 4 for semester two.

Your studio is only for the duration of one semester (not the rest of your degree!).

You have until midnight, Sun 19th June to complete the online ballot form (and amend it if you change your mind about anything). Studio allocations will be emailed and posted to this site by Mon. 27th June.
