Synopsis:
Each person has their own reality. They may feel as though a cup of tea has healing properties, and can make everything right. They might believe that money does buy happiness . Or, they may constantly be followed by a malevolent presence, constantly lurking in the darkness and judging their every move. A presence that causes them to perform rituals, and actions they do not want to.
The problem with ones reality, is that no one else can ever see it. You can call it out from the rooftops, you can beg for help, but unless someone else is also living it, you are alone.
Director’s statement:
Everyone’s reality is different. Some of us move through life with confidence, calm and collected, fearless and unquestioning. But for some, shadows lurk in the darkness. Every movement, every breath, is brought into question, every action judged by the demon within.
A dark and gloomy psychological thriller, ‘One Closed Door’ follows a young, stricken man as he tries to get ready for bed. But even such a simple task quickly becomes convoluted, as he is constantly judged by a dark and malevolent presence. A presence that causes crippling paranoia and causes him to perform rituals that he doesn’t want to do.
The inspiration for One Closed Door came from a single statement – that you don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. Once we’re locked away, our lives become private; they’re not to be shared with the world. Thing is, that means that you don’t know what’s going on in someone’s else’s world.
That matters, because their world is their reality. And realities can differ; they aren’t all the same.
You might be able to go to bed without fear, but that doesn’t mean everyone can.
Some of us are judged by the demon within.
