This week tutorial made me feel like we were on the right track, not only the progress but also the exercise, especially this Friday. As usual, Paul took some time to introduce what white balance is. White balance (WB) is the process of removing unrealistic colour casts, so that objects which appear white in person are rendered white in your photo. Proper camera white balance has to take into account the “colour temperature" of a light source, which refers to the relative warmth or coolness of white light.(from google)
WB is a word which i know about form photograph, however obviously it also belongs to filming. Instead of talking, we jump into exercises in group of 3 to collect images for a 1or2 minute “abstract"film as the fragments Paul showed before.
This time, it seems to be more technique touch(at least for me).JESS KIRALEE and I decided picking the natural environment view near building 9. Actually none of us know clearly about the professional words like which one is the focus point . To avoid that kind of problem and also for learning i took some picture as below. After the class i asked Haisi, she has touched this kind of stuff last semester. I am happy our studio system like this. Helping each other with the weakness.
At last i also got some valuable note from class:(it must be help for me during next shooting)
1600k – candles
3200k – film lights
4000-5200k – fluorescent lights
5200-5600k – sunny
5600-6000k – cloudy
