part 1.2

Since Paul introduced the shooting method of “cheating”, it helped me a lot when I do the shooting and shots designing. While we were shooting 2 lines script, I realised that we can shoot all lines for one character if it’s a conversation scene, but not to shoot in the script’s order and keep resetting the camera or audio (I did this for many times lol). This will make the connection of shots looks more natural and also increase the efficiency for the team work.

During the shooting progress, I found sometimes the sound could not be well recorded, like the the sound of movements was too small, and the sounds of two characters were not equal (the mic’s position was wrong maybe), so I realise that sometimes to record wild lines and foley is necessary. I used to think that wild lines are fake to the footage, however when I edit I find that the result of using wild lines and foley usually satisfied because of a good editing skill. Using a foley or wild lines also help you to create more ways to edit and arrange footages.

When finish a shot, do not be lazy to check the footage!! I realise this when I do the editing work, because I found that in a footage the mic was accidentally in the shot. However we did not notice this and we did not shoot another shot as well, so I had to put this only shot into my cut. Though I zoom in the footage and the mic becomes unseen in the frame, however it is still a huge mistake. Thus I think it is very necessary to check the footage after shooting a shot to check wether the footage is perfect. Also it is worthy to consider that whether should shoot the scene in different angles and shots, too.

Moreover I tried a new skill colour grading in this edit. Though it’s simply make the footage brighter and enhance the contrast, the whole effect makes the video in a same natural colourful tone. Also with the relaxed background music it truely express the comfortable furniture store’s enviroment and atmosphere.  Thus this makes me realise that the power of colour grading, which the different colour tone can help you express the emotion you want in the video.
