shooting reflection

For this time’s shooting, almost everything went on so well because I think I did a good job on the pre-production part of my film project 2.

As last semester my group didn’t do well on the pre-production part, especially on the choice of location (we didn’t find the circus however the theme is about circus), so this time I specially do the test shot in different locations where I plan to shoot. On the offical shooting day I didn’t spend much time to deal with the locations, because I’ve known exactly where I want to shoot — like the  choice of the table in restaurant, the seat on the tram and the zebra crossing in front of the Flinders station.

Also test film compares to the storyboard is much more easier for my crew (only a cameraman Kinzo) and actress to understand what I wanna shoot, and I made a shot list in a right shooting order as well, I send these before the official shooting to my crew and actress, so when the official shooting I don’t have to go very detailedly of what we are going to do, it makes the shooting process more efficient.

Moreover I found that my a few times of shooting experience helped me to shoot better this time as well. I supposed to use the original sound of the raw footages by the mic on Sony x70 (I don’t have enough crew to record sound separately), which the character’s lines should be clearly recorded, however I found that in the restaurant it was too noisy to record the lines, so I didn’t try to record the lines many times but decided to record the atmosphere and wild lines after. This decision was used in all scenes, although it increased the workload but I think it would improve the quality.
