After reviewing many Agnes Varda’s works I’ve got many inspirations about the shots, so in my film project 2 I tried to imitate some good shots.
- long shot from <Les dites cariatides>
This shot is absolutely beautiful with the panning and a little bit tilting. It uses panning to track the naked man on the street and at same time demonstrates the settings of the location, it’s the best shot for the beginning of the film.
I imitated this shot, which used the panning to track myself on the street as well. This shot introduces the character of me and the location of the street, so I’m gonna use this shot at the very first beginning of my film.
- conversation scene mix shots from <Faces Places>
The conversation scenes shots are not arranged in a normal way, which the normal way is when someone is talking and the shot will give to that person, however in this scene the shots are mainly close up to their hands or something very detailed, and the conversation is demonstrated by a only mid shot of them. This type of shots arrangement makes the conversation scene more interesting and leave some space for audience to think about the content.
I’m using the same way in my film, which use the mid shot of us as the beginning shot, and then move to the detail close up shots of hand movements, then the conversation as the “voiceover” in the shots.
