Lite panel practice

Lite panel practice

In this shooting process, I did both director and control the lite panel, however I reflected more on practicing lite panel this time. During the shooting process, our use of light is varied. We shot in the most of day time, the daylight was very good and natural thus in the front part of the shot basically I did not use the lite panel, however when we needed to create something with a huge contrast light, I started using the light panel. I used harsh light to illuminate half of Jack’s face at first, his two sides had a big contrast immediately, but the footage on the screen was too abrupt and the background was very dark, so I gave up the harsh light and chose a warm light. Therefore the light should be adjusted according to the results on the screen.

(so sorry but don’t know why it’s like this…)

Additionally, since we didn’t book the colour gel panels, I had to creatively use two green plastic bags to act as colour panels. Fortunately, this worked very well, which make the light looked very green and creepy. Also, I constantly adjust the intensity of the light to make it looks like it is flickering. This effect is very dramatic, and it is also a new way of using light.

Moreover, I found that sometimes the use of reflectors will bring better results. When we wanted the light to fill all the room, the direct hash light of the lite panel seemed not suitable, thus I chose to use the lite panel to face the reflector so that the light can be reflected to the entire room, the result is so good which made the light in room relatively soft. It was also my first practice of light panels by myself, and I was fortunate to have success.
