HOFT Reading Week #11

The two ”The Death of Film” readings were predictably alarmist and to be honest, what I’d expect from a guy called Godfrey Cheshire. He sounds like a parody of the stuffy old white academic who rails against new technology – digital books are killing print, reject electronics. Writing on paper is too immaterial, carve your stories into stone. Writing is too newfangled, pass on all your stories by talking.
Ugh.
I will say the style of the piece was enjoyable, but he really rubbed me the wrong way.
To the main reading – I haven’t watched the film yet, but now I do have an idea of what it contains, and I’m pretty keen on watching it. I do have a healthy respect for Iranian film, and am interested to see what I think of the film.
