What is ideology?/What is reality? -> structuralism
- inescapable – subjectivity
- capitalism – The West (Anglosphere – eh vs. Euro – rationalists re criticism)
- taken for granted as reality – Marxism
- nature vs culture
- alternative views
Every film (and every thing) is political.
- the way it is made
- capital intensive
- to critique capitalism is to engage capitalism -> the Frankfurt School -> Marxist cultural theory. (Related writers: Habermas, Benjamin, Marcuse, Adorno.)
- Does this negate the critique?
