Film of the week: La Glace á Trois Faces, or, The Three-Faced Mirror
The thoughts coming out of the tutes are pretty advanced and I’m a little worried that I won’t be able to keep up with everyone. I suppose the only thing to do is to read more and watch more film…
Notes on the film (which is about a man’s three lovers at different points in time).
(I found a basic mind-mapping browser application, Mindmup, to use for this.)
There’s a lot of philosophy to catch up with in order to understand what’s happening, apparently. Hegel and Nietzsche key?
Films recommended that may connect with what we’re studying:
- Beau Travail – Clare Denis
- Inland Empire – David Lynch
- Hunger/Shame/12 Years a Slave – Steve McQueen
- Blue is the Warmest Colour – Abdellatif Kechiche
- Memento – Christopher Nolan (re: Soviet montage)
- Tree of Life – Mallick
- Anything by Gus Van Sant?
