With an ever expanding global network across every technological platform available, the sheer amount of content published with every second passing, the amount of media that we could ever hope to analyse or even hear about becomes increasingly smaller in comparison to the tutor that is the growing diversity in social media platforms. It’s easy to understand why we couldn’t ever hope to keep pace with the rapidly expanding range of social media, just think of the range of platforms you publish from, signing up to each new craze each consecutive year; MySpace, Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, and it goes on and will continue to go on, with millions of people following the same pattern. With the growing demand for more information and sooner than ever seen before, we obviously risk the news we hear about becoming out of date fairly rapidly, possibly even softening the impact of said information as we are being inundated with data from multiple sources. Regardless, the growing behemoth of media, and it’s refusal to slow for even a moment, will make it difficult for people studying media to take it on, but it sure will give us a fair amount of selection as to what we want to study.
