For my first week at university after thirteen years at the same school, the atmosphere in my first media lectorial was refreshing, the idea of solely learning something you’re interested in was brand new, and something I had been looking forward to for the last three years.
I had always been a passive learner, content to read the notes, highlight the key points, summarise, and then revise. Nothing too complicated, the occasional mind map and brainstorm would come to completion in the case of an in-depth essay. Strangely, I generally commit information to memory better when typed rater that written. That will help immensely considering most of my classes are conducted with the use of laptops.
I don’t foresee anything challenging so far for this course in particular, but my general goal is to keep up to speed with the course and the set work, so that no problems arise and accumulate.
I don’t know what I want to learn in this course, but i’ll give anything a fair go, because apart from the fact that i’m paying to be here, i’ll make the most of learning about media as a whole because of the interest I hold in it. I’ll learn by trial and error, just try my best as I go along, and make the best of it.
