Peer Review Assignment 2

The first project I played around with was Justin Harvey’s. I think that he must of put a lot of thought into this project and it turned out really well! I really like the inclusion of the video in the background that changes colours. And the generated sounds from Max really impressed me! I thought that was really interesting and sounded really awesome! I think my only criticism is that the sounds of the specific instruments could be a bit louder than the drones of the music in the background. As said in class it would be cool if the pictures of the instruments reacted to when they were being played, so that you can see the direct correlation.

The next piece I played with was Xiayiming Shi’s. I really enjoyed this one! I thought it was the smartest one that we saw! I can’t believe that in this time frame he was able to practically create a video game. I was so impressed! When we first saw him playing the game I wondered why he would have decided to use his nose as a way to play the game, but then when he explained, it made sense. I think that’s the only thing I can think of to improve upon! Maybe he could have used a hand instead of a nose? I’m not too sure, but it would be cool if it were an easier body part to manoeuvre.

The last piece I played with was Lili Callisto’s. I thought her piece was great! I hadn’t been able to understand how to do the jit.world stuff, so I commend her on that! I liked the look of the animation and she told me there was a person on the cube, which made it that much more interesting! I liked how you could change the colours too. I thought the animation looked cool and I thought it was awesome how it was random. The cube could have responded better to sound, but it it did when you made lots of noise, when you go the hang of it!
