Getting close to the exhibition now!
Early this week I went to Footscray to take photos and do an interview at The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. The graffiti around the centre was awesome and I think I got some good shots! I went into the centre and I think I went at the best and worst time I could! It was around lunch when I got there and there were many people walking around the centre with shopping trolleys doing shopping. I later found out that the centre provides a service where asylum seekers can come in and do some grocery shopping. So I got to see an event taking place in the centre, which was cool! But because it was so busy I couldn’t talk to any of the volunteers. So I decided to take more photos and sent some questions to the centre and asked them to send an email reply.
Tuesday and Friday this week we worked on edits as a group. I am quite happy with our progress, although I think that we haven’t done enough. I feel like I did a lot of work, but I think as a whole we could have done some more work. Originally I thought that the idea would work well only if we had enough small and big projects to round out the map. But things kept going wrong and the group decided not to add as much as originally planned. I still like the pieces that we have in the map, but I don’t think it’s effective because there’s only really three pieces. Which makes me think maybe we shouldn’t present it as we are. But then that gets rid of the best part of our project. So we can’t do that now. Although if I could go back and do it again, I would add a lot more small pieces into the project to round it out.
I started to work on the interactive map website this week which is looking better than I thought it would! I created a map on a seperate website and put that design into the website I am using. It took many tries to be able to get the images into the map, but I eventually worked it out! And I’m very happy with how its coming along. Here is a screenshot of how it looks so far.
