A critical component of learning and advancing upon your knowledge base and skills is the ability to self-critique and evaluate the work that you have produced. Central to this is identifying what your strengths are, why they are valuable and the areas in which you require improvement. Why is this and what could have otherwise worked better?
Looking back on my first project I feel as though I failed to incorporate enough juxtaposition or contrast elements and that my texts were too one-dimensional. For instance, in all three video shoots I am walking through the city which, even though I am in a different location each time, lack diversity or complexity in underscoring the experience of moving to a new city. I feel as though there was a greater level of contrast in my images, however, that my audio files also lacked complexity and that they were too simple.
Having re-considered and critiqued my own work in this manner facilities my ability to understand how highly essentially editing is in manipulating content to give added complexity and intrigue.
