filthy. rich. spoilt. rotten

Okay here is another quick movie recommendation/review from me.

The Riot Club

A British drama thriller directed by Lone Scherfig and written by Laura Wade, which was also based on her play titled ‘Posh’It tells the story of a fictional, all-male exclusive dining club at the profoundly known, Oxford University. The Riot Club is a long established, elite drinking club where pride is a must, self-indulgence is a given, and the idea that money can buy anything, is engraved in all mindsets.

There is a lot of rowdy behaviour, harsh themes and all-in-all, posh boys causing a ruckus, but it was a very good film, with amazing actors and many interesting things in which I picked up on.

One thing is that you may not get to learn much about each character and their developments as you may in other movies. This can be seen as a huge metaphor because once you join this elite society, the club becomes more important than the individual. (It is a ride or die kinda thing). The movie, that may at start seem like just another teen-gone-wild, rich-kids-with-no-responsiblities kind of movie, is actually very clever.

maxresdefaultAnother reason that you should watch this film is that it gives you an insight on what these private, upper-class, one percent are like and the inductions it takes to enter such clubs. I am not saying that every single aristocrat in Britain are like the members of The Riot Club, but it is a fun and somewhat… educational? watch.

The third reason you should watch this film, is because the actors and actresses are extremely attractive and that is an instant bonus for me and for any other movie lover (don’t lie!) So four for you Glen Coco!

riot-clubmaxresdefault-2To conclude, I give the movie a 9/10 (although this is coming from me and I love a lot of movies) so it may have been an easy rating. It doesn’t matter either way because it was a brilliant movie.
