Class Presentation Response

This week in class we each presented our group’s ideas for our projects. I was particularly interested in the presentation by Adele, Andrew, Kerry and Ryan and their idea to use the same script a number of times to make multiple versions with each of them swapping roles for each shoot.

They plan to meet at the same location each week for their shoots. By revisiting the same location multiple times, they should be able to get to understand the environment fairly well. I don’t know if they’ve found a location yet or have settled on script, which means it’s hard to know at this point what kind of lighting conditions they’ll be working with, as the techniques and equipment you might want to use can alter dramatically depending on whether you want to shoot indoors or outdoors as well as what time of day you want to film, as we have seen over and over again in our course.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what location they do choose and how each of their group members will approach the location and script in their own way. Each of them might have really different ideas about what they want to achieve with the project. They stated that they wanted to use a generic script, suggesting they are primarily interested in improving their skills in a few keys roles, and I think this project should be a really good way for them to do so. I think because they have chosen to reshoot the same script in the same location, each version of the scene should be able to learn from and build upon the last. I look forward to be able to see all of the final edits and being able to compare the differences between them side by side.
