I made these images through data-bending, which is the process of manipulating the information which makes up digital images. To do this I used TextEdit and copied and pasted parts of the texts. The results varied drastically. Some changed very little from the original image, while others (such as the image above) created massive glitches. Given the random nature of the glitch, there’s no way of knowing how to reproduce the effect, unless you have an extensive knowledge of coding (which I don’t.

For this glitch I changed my method slightly. I found all of the ‘@’ signs in the text and replaced them with ‘$’ signs. From the final image, it appears that ‘@’ appeared a lot in the code as there are many visible glitches
