Types of film splicers:

• Cement – used a chemical called “film cement” to join frames together, made from a film base dissolved in solvent. Could only be used for acetate, triacetate and nitrate films.
• Tape – used thin tape to join frames. Most popular as it could be used on most kinds of film
• Ultrasonic – used an ultrasonic signal to melt frames together. Generally used for microfilm and polyester film
