AURORA EXPLAINED // PB#3
With the tremendous assistance, advice and even narration of Dr. Alan Duffy, myself and fellow studes, Bek and Seonaid, can present to you all reading this blog, AURORA EXPLAINED.
Trying to communicate and simplify a complicated, scientific process in three minutes is difficult okay, and this being our first ever attempt at stop-motion video, made it all the more challenging. However, we jumped over all of the hurdles and pushed all our boundaries to create this piece of media we have come to love. It’s super cute a’right. The craft-eclectic aesthetic works.
Hours of research into the phenomenon of the aurora almost had us ripping out our hairs until the power and knowledge of Alan Duffy saved us. Working with hundreds of images and even hundreds more little and large pieces of paper too, had us at the brink of insanity within a dark studio in Building 9. But lets not forget the struggle of creating a small, yet, real-action light show using only miniature torches and cellophane! Seriously, this vid was tough to make. But I loved all (okay, MOST) of these hours of video production, and it totally makes the end result worth it. And I also know a whole lot more about the natural sight of the aurora.
