WK4 WORKSHOP
iiiiiiiiiiiiMovie time.
This week’s workshop was devoted to making media – the first time this year (within class). Done so by creating a short video, consisting of completely found footage courtesy of archive.org. My table was given the theme ‘movement’, as the focal point of our video. At first I had trouble hunting down the right archival footage from the website, that cohered to the theme of movement, mainly because the site offered so much ridiculous footage – it was hard not to get lost in this corner of the internet. But after a while I refocused my attention and got to editing (using iMovie). Having used the Mac program of iMovie before, I had no trouble working with it, just using simple cuts to interchange my found footage.
It was nice to have some time to just sit and play around with the archival footage and iMovie, steering away from the ice-breaking, introductory formalities of the media course taken place in the weeks prior. But more importantly this session was helpful as it worked toward gaining some knowledge and insight to working with found footage for Project Brief #3.
