Sounds I like and maybe some I don’t, we’ll see

As with most people, sound is a huge part of my life. Massive part. There is no way I could imagine life without it. I like most things, it’s hard to think of a particular sound that I don’t enjoy. But I can think of a few that really stand out for me.

The sound mark of my home; I come from a small town in central west NSW. I grew up on a property surrounded by an orchid, old mine shafts, bushland and a beautiful flowing creek. One thing I’ve noticed about moving to Melbourne is that it sounds completely different. Sometimes I wake in the morning  I feel like I’m orientated at home, so I hear the engine of a car, coming from the direction the clothesline is and I freak. Because I’m not used to waking up with car noises where the clothesline is. Then I remember I’m in Melbourne.

The shutter of my SLR; I love my SLR, once was my dads now mine. The organic noise of the shutter overtime I take a photo is something I could never get sick of.

Live music; The feeling that I get when I hear live music is indescribable, so I’m not going to try. Especially if it’s an artist I like, but otherwise just any live music is amazing!

Laughter; I feel like everyone should love the sound of laughter. I guess it just makes me happy when people are laughing.

Hans Zimmer; So for those who don’t know, Hans Zimmer is a composer for films such as; Batman, Pirates of the Caribbean, Interstellar and inception. My favourite piece by Zimmer is “Time” from the inception sound track. Love me some Zimmer.

As for sounds I don’t like, theres one that I can think of, and I must admit, it’s probably one of my biggest fears. Balloons. They’re so unexpected and loud, I don’t exactly know what it is that gets me, but theres something about balloons that I don’t trust.
