Good Form – Reflection

Good Form Reflection

This semester at uni was the most fun one I’ve had so far. Thanks to the Good Form studio and Jeremy! I love producing content where I don’t have any creative constrictions. In my first semester, there were too many rules and boundaries to what we were required to create. On the other hand, Good Form allowed us to have total control over what we wanted to create; it gave us the wheel and let us drive. Our group worked on a webseries called “Cleaned Out”, and we consisted of 3 creative writing students and 5 media students. I think the best part about our group, was our dynamic. We all enjoy a similar type of humour, and were able to get along extremely well, and in combination with our comedic side, we employed a great work ethic. We were able to keep a fairly consistent shooting schedule of 2 shoots a week, which was really useful because it was enough to keep the production phase rolling, and not too much that it influenced our other subjects or working/private lives.

A massive thing that we all learnt was how to make the most of our shoots. During the first couple of shoots, it took us a while to get rolling and actually start knocking over some solid content. We knew what we needed to shoot, and we knew when and where it needed to be done, we just became really undeceive about how to shoot it. On set we would spend loads of time bouncing ideas back and fourth until we came to a conclusion about how we would shoot the scene. We soon learnt that this was wasting valuable time and decided that before each shoot we would construct a shot list and time schedule, and that would be our bible for the night. By doing this we were able to get to the location and start knocking stuff over right away.

Another thing that was great about our group is that we all shared the roles around. I feel as though all us are fairly competent in all roles, and by having that shared experience we were able to all do whatever needed to be done. If someone were unable to make a shoot, there would always be someone who was able to fill a position, which was very valuable for us.

Our project have received loads more positive feedback than we thought it was going to. Which has pushed us to work harder and create content, not only we are happy with, but also content that other people can enjoy. Furthermore, the enjoyment and success of the project, has motivated us to continue to produce more webisodes after the assessment is finished.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this semester, especially Good Form. It aided me to express some creativity and produce a physical piece of work. I met a whole bunch of great people and learnt a lot from the studio.
