The Centre of Contemporary Photography delivers, yet again, a plethora of different photographic artists, all of whom use varying processes in order to suite their aesthetic, and thematic qualities.
The ‘Gallery 1′ was infused with mingled feelings of intent and placelessness through the visually staggering grandeur of James Tunks’ ‘Elsewhere’. Tunks’ exhibition is not simply a showcase of photographic content; there is a sense of duality that lingers within the space. Tunks is able to demonstrate an alternative process to conventional photographic methods through the tactile nature of his practice. A sense of tactility is present throughout ‘Elsewhere’ as we behold Tunks’ illusion; a photo of a stream of stars across a nights sky. However, the illusion is shattered as we learn Tunks’ piece is a poetic union of found materials, bound by force, in order to reflect his love for astronomical photography.
