Capturing Creativity Week 12

This week was the final week of classes. So we spent most of our time in building 13 and in the edit suites. We worked heavily on the media studio presentation during class, trying to get everything as polished as possible before we needed to present it in two weeks time. I was helping Dusty put together the video for the presentation and we were finding it difficult to gather everyone’s 30 second clips (mainly because many people, myself included, had not completed them yet). We also spent time thinking of a name for our studio.

The studio name brainstorming process was quite funny, particularly some of the names such as ‘Artswamp’. We decided on ‘Exhibit A’ which wasn’t the most terrible name, but kind of lacked the diverse personality of our class.

The second half of the week was spent in a flurry, trying to edit together our clips whilst getting all of our other assessment tasks done as well. We all worked cohesively, and all exchanged grimacesĀ of mutual pain as we spent hours upon hours in the editing suits throughout the week. However, everything was coming together quite seamlessly particularly for how the semester started off for some of us. I ended up getting the first half of my video portrait completed. I decided to do something different to my classmates and put in a bit of a teaser at the start of my documentary. I have seen this tool used in a lot of the documentary programs I watch online, so I attempted to emulate that. However, due to my time limit I don’t think it was as effective as it could have been.

My plan for the next couple of weeks is to find at least two pieces of music that would go with Robbie’s video portrait and capture the differing natures of his projects.
