Yesterday consisted of attempting to transform research into something tangible. Using the collected and analyzed references, I began the coverage of my scene.
Filming seemed to go quite well, I faced little to no challenges in regards to composing the scene.
I used 3 shots in order to capture my scene’s content. 2 shots focused on the movement of hands on a keyboard, whilst one of the shots focused on an upper body shot of me typing.
Tonight or tomorrow I will begin the audio work for this scene. I intend for this portion of the filming to be quite simple, yet hopefully, quite effective in what I wish to portray. I will simply speak over the edited together sequence.
The dialogue being spoken over the scene will bear homage to Su Freidrich’s ‘Sink or Swim’ segment ‘Ghosts’ – in which the audience is given insight into narrative through the use of written word on a screen. Considering my research assignment is the exploration of dialogue and the decoupage/coverage of dialogue/monologue – I have decided to use my voice rather than words on the screen.
I have taken ideas from poems, films and lyrics in order to craft my own monologue/dialogue for my scene to ensure originality and some creative license.
The end result of this scene should explore dialogue’s ability to deliver tension when the audience has no knowledge of context or narrative – whether I have achieved this will be deliberated in post-production.
The entirety of my scene was filmed on my Canon 6D using a 50mm focal length and my iPhone 6 and editing will take place in Adobe Audition CC and Premiere Pro CS6. In order to record sound I will use my Samson Meteor Microphone and any background music will either be self recorded or from a royalty free website.
