My first sequence has been completed!! I’m quite happy with how it has turned out. In this sequence I decided to explore the idea of intimacy in relation to different times and places. I intend to capture the awkward essence of teenage and adolescent intimacy.

I wanted to emulate the the first encounters of intimacy that people may experience and the illustrate the feelings and sentiments that accompany these encounters.

My theme of intimacy will be explored in other ways throughout my project – it will be discussed through it’s different facets and the different ways it can be experienced.

I will further explore the idea of intimacy by filming and editing together a solo sequence to explore the idea of individual intimacy and how intimacy can be explored without the need for a second party.

I also want to try and explore the idea of intimacy being a performance – my idea is to try and make this as subtle as possible. I will attempt to do this by the use of costume in my scenes in order to allow my subjects to embody different character types.

E.g. In my first sequence, my subjects wore bright colours and clothes that were too small to accentuate the idea of adolescence.

I will also attempt to explore and challenge the heteronormative idea of intimacy and that intimacy is not something that is exclusive to a male-female relationship. Intimacy can be experienced between all sexes and genders regardless of what the media decides to show us.
