In preparation for our second brief, we were given some time with the cameras today. We found out about how to properly set up the camera and the tripod for the optimum panning and tilting motions. We also learnt about the fantastically tacky effect of the zoom lens in media. In contrast to it’s tackiness, the zoom lens provides a wonderful effect in the first LOTR film, where a zoom function is applied whilst the camera is being moved backwards.
Anyway, the Sony cameras reminded me of midget news-reporter cameras, and they spiked my interest in investing in a camera to start filming some new projects of mine. I’m pretty keen to start the second brief. My friend Millie has agreed to let me annoy her with my camera for a day or two, so I’m probably going to drive up to her place in Yarra Junction.
I’ll post another post when I’ve actually had some hands on experience with the Sony Cameras.
