The seminar was divided into three major sections. The first section had
guests Lee Rogers (Film & TV) and Bernard Wee (Brand Photography) on
stage. This section looked into a traditional media direction of filmmaking and
content creation, with an emphasis on building connections and finding
international projects for collaboration.
A humorous short clip on the International Jobs crew’s perceived aspirations
of working overseas initiated a brief turnover. Josh McNicol (Marketing &
Comms) and Kate Collinson (Digital Media) replaced the previous two guests
in the second section, to speak about the communications aspect of our
media course. Josh and Kate spoke about utilising their education in law,
business and media & communications to create a name for themselves in
emerging Australian companies with international ties. This section
emphasised the importance of networking and catering for an international
clientele.
Following a ten-minute tea break, all four guests were invited back into the
stage to open up the panel, where general queries were asked accordingly.
The live Twitter feed was also made available for audience to ask their
questions. A few audience members raised their hand to share their
WEEK 11 Seminar International Careers
curiosities via the roving microphone. Questions on preparing for interviews
for an international job and the inhibitions of working/living overseas came up.
