What analysis? SWOT analysis.

I’m really proud of that title.

Quick run-down before I give you my personal SWOT analysis. SWOT analysis – which is used in a number of groups (small and large), is a way of assessing the current status and position of an individual, group or organization. It is a way of identifying ‘where we are now’ and ‘where we want to go’. SWOT is an acronym that stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. Quick run-down over – LOOK AT MY SWOT ANALYSIS!

Strengths –

First of all, I’m open minded. I tend to try thinks before dissing it, and I’m happy to try new methods that I’m not necessarily comfortable with at first.

Secondly, I’m adaptable. Often, things just won’t go to plan. However, I’m good with taking alternative paths to achieving the same goal.

Thirdly, I’m ambitious and goal driven. I work well when I’m working towards an achievable goal, and I always try to do better than I did last time when creating media.

I’m also willing to make sacrifices. If it means taking time out of my free time to get work done, I’ll willingly do it.

I’m punctual. Meaning – if I say something will be done by a specific date, I guarantee it’ll be done. If we have to meet somewhere at a specific time, I’ll be there.

Weaknesses –

I’m easily distracted. This normally happens when I’m at home, or in a place that’s not suited for study.

I’m more suited with working alone. Not to say that I don’t enjoy working in teams, but I just prefer working on my own.

I’m sometimes reluctant to leave important tasks to others.

I procrastinate… a lot.

I’m not very emotionally intelligent.

Opportunities –

Firstly, I see this as a way of seeing what it’s like to delegate tasks in a group when working on a media related task. My experience in groups with media always had me in roles of leadership.

Adding to the previous statement, it will always be interesting to see how well I function with a group of people I have never spoken to prior to this project.

Prior to this project, I had no idea what an ‘institution’ was. Hopefully, with the help of my group, I can gain a thorough understanding of it.

I’m not very emotionally intelligent. Maybe this is a way that I can develop that skill.

Threats –

My schedule. Right now, I go to university on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesdays I got into RMITV to edit some footage. Friday and Sunday I have work. So Saturday is the only day where I have nothing on.

My attention span.

My general interest in the project. Naturally, I’d prefer to dedicate more times towards projects I enjoy.

Pshht. SWOT analysis finished. Over.

P.S. That was me trying to speak over a walkie-talkie.
Is ‘being weird’ a weakness?
