Learning on the Web

There are so many things we can learn online, and a lot of them are through blogs like this (but supercharged). As I’ve mentioned before, I work for a website that essentially teaches people to make their blogs profitable. I also follow a lot of blogs that have to do with my interests. One of those is No Film School. Basically, that site teaches you the best way to make films without breaking the bank or having a degree in filmmaking. It’s pretty awesome if you’re like me and want to get into filmmaking but are too chicken to get a degree inĀ just that. I know it’s a profitable blog, based on the sponsors they have and the contests and things they run, and also by their layout/theme. Some of those cost serious $$$.

Obviously it takes some dedication to learn things on your own, and No Film School isn’t really a course or anything. But to me, it’s amazing to have the ability to log in and teach myself something with the click of a button. At RMIT, we have access to Lynda via the library. It’s pretty awesome, it’s all broken up by subject and you can learn how to master pretty much any of them.

There’s even a section on blogs (with a handy WordPress Essentials video if anyone is struggling!):

So learning online goes beyond HTML, there’s plenty of free access, and we can apply it to our coursework. Who knew?
