Film/TV1 – Analysis Three – Question Three

Two reasons/examples why we shoot to edit:
Although I was unable to find the lecture slides regarding week four, from what I have been able to recall, we shoot to edit for a stronger and smoother sense contiunity between frames, as well as to save ourselves time – it is a more efficient way to shoot. This is in regards to elements such as framing, lighting, camera angles etc. Stronger contiunity can be achieved in multiple ways, which can be seen as ‘shooting to edit’.
An example of shooting to edit can be displayed in relation to storyboarding, as we do not follow the storyboards consecutive scene by scene layout that is presented to us on the storyboard page. Alternatively, we plan out shots that can be grouped and shot together (similar frames/scenes). We do this because as it saves time and resources, and also builds a stronger sense of continuity within scenes, as we are not continually altering equipment.
