last semester in writing media texts, we (giorgia deslandes, michael nh, mitch pirera, beth travers) had to make a single take film to the theme of ‘consequences’. what we produced, mainly props to michael, was a quite a comedic, dark sort of thing that i think was totally successful.
michael was the main brains and limbs behind the whole film, his aspiring film creator streak really shining bright throughout, and it really got me thinking, and comparing, competencies and, i guess, technological literacies between myself and him. he’s obviously more talented creatively with the camera and coming up with a plot. his envisioning of the film was quite a magical thing to behold, and i realised then that i couldn’t do that, i’m more spontaneous and hate planning. i feel that if something is planned, it will be of a forced quality. you’re trying to make it good, impressing, hd worthy instead of letting it breathe and build on itself.
but i’m not the successful film maker, michael is. so what does that say about my technological competency? ha.
