robin williams

today i watched the emmy awards. while i was interested in the fashion (oh man, the fashion gave me life and also took it away from me.. lena dunham what are you doing????!!!!) and if breaking bad would win the award for every category possible, i was mostly interested in the tribute that billy crystal would give to robin williams.
i know i’m not the first, and i’ll never be the last to say it, but robin williams was my childhood, he laid the foundation with his bare hands for what i would find humorous and he taught me what a true, decent human looks like. he was an inspiration. but i don’t think it’s fair to his legacy to say he “was” anything. he will always be this immortalised symbol of greatness. just for existing, he has brought happiness to more people than he could have ever imagined. and while his demons got the better of him, he remained true and inherently good until the end.

billy crystal really hit the nail on the head when he stated that
“For almost 40 years, he was the brightest star in the comedy galaxy. But while some of the brightest of celestial bodies are actually extinct, their molten energy long since cooled, miraculously, because they float in the heavens so far away from us now, their beautiful light will shine on us forever. And the glow will be so bright, it will warm your heart and make your eyes glisten, and you’ll think to yourselves: Robin Williams… what a concept.”

i don’t think i need say anything else.

rest in peace and happiness robin, and know you made an impact on more lives than you could ever fathom.
