Sitting in a tutorial, a very interesting question came up from a fellow media student. While we were all brainstorming questions he asked us ‘what is the validity of the internet?’ I know that we are all very trusting of things we read on the net but should we be?

When we were learning and ingesting information from books, these went through a long screening process and not anybody could publish them for us to read. Same with newspapers etc, and the information within was a relatively reliable source. On the internet however anybody and everybody can just throw things up at the click of a button. So where is the line of things that we trust and things that we don’t? The web could just be a huge network of lies that we have all ignorantly subscribed to!

Definitely food for thought!
