Took a super long walk around my neighbourhood today just to get some fresh air and photography done (plus grocery shopping). I took about 100ish shots and ended up with 10ish I really liked and narrowed that down to 8 edits (below). Conducting this practise was great because:
- It’s a reminder to take time out to create and/or to make space to create around mundane or necessary tasks.
- It gave me an opportunity to slow down, admire my surroundings and take advantage of time.
- I need to remember not every shot is going to work out and that’s okay.
- Impostor syndrome is real and the world isn’t going to end if you’re taking photos in the street. (People do not care, chill)
- I am realising to get better at photography I should probably start analysing my pieces that I like, so in future I have more direction/confidence instead of low-key hoping for the best. (Already know I’m a sucker for pinks and blues!)
- I walked past a local gallery and they had a flyer in their window which was a call out for submissions, so maybe I should email them?
Overall very happy with how these turned out and I can see them fitting into project 2, especially the image of the wilted flower that might be included in my pitch next week.
In other news surrounding practise I was recommended this website https://www.designspiration.com/ to find inspiration. I think I’d really like to plan a editorial vibe shoot with a model because it’s not an area I am used to and I would like to keep growing my skills. I am currently being inspired by @tommygrissel & @fritzbacon.
