The day is May 15th and today was the day I went live to air on radio for the first time in my life.

The day started off a bit tumultuously, a few of us were late to the studio and we were a bit nervous about the task ahead. Then whilst we were prepping we were hit with a few problems. We had to change two of the songs on the set list as we could not find the CD’s in the library, which was a minor problem, but our biggest problem was that one of our live interviewers pulled out last minute, in fact the morning of. We still had one interview with a volunteer from WIRE, but it meant that we would have to play two pre-recorded interviews which was not ideal. Although we tried our hardest to remain calm, the sudden change in plans made the challenge ahead even more daunting.

We were scared, most of has had the jitters, but despite all the nerves we went to air at 12. Suprisingly the nervous energy turned into good energy and I believe that it went really well and I’m very proud of it. I think Amy and I had a professional and engaging rapport, the interview with the Ms Stott from WIRE was really interesting and we only had one moment of dead air.

After the show, we were relieved that it was done adnnd that we could relax. The station manager came in and had a stern chat with us about what could have been improved and what could have been improved was our planning. We should have had a back up interview in case someone fell out, my interview which was played wasnt of radio quality, Georginas was a bit too long and there were some presenting moments that we couldve performed better on.

Overall I’m proud of my group, after listening back over the piece I believe for a first time show it was quite good!
