In order to prep us for our upcoming Project Brief 3, our lectorial featured a guest speaker who is experienced in the art of interviewing. Her dot point tips have helped me map out the structure of my interview for my project and have made me more confident in tackling the project. Here they are:
Who – Do they have something to say, are they credible, can they deliver on camera, ae they good “talent”, who is my audience.
What – What are you going to ask them? Research – reading, speaking, observing. Write questions, simple, as short as possible, open ended, check wording. PRACTISE. Avoid leading questions.
Where – Location, Light, Sound, Background, Permission?
When – When you are interviewing a subject remember to brief them, maintain eye contact, listen, be flexible, be respectful an show empathy, stay focus, be quiet because its not about you.
These concise dot point are easy to remember, and have actually helped me a lot whilst planning for PB3!
