Today I conducted pre-interviews with the proprietors of Mesma Studios and Noir Darkroom, Camryn and Jessica. My intention was to discuss the contention broadly, giving them an idea of the main themes of the documentary and to get an idea of who these people are in a relaxed informal setting. Both of the owners were thoughtful, interesting and passionate people, having a chat with them was great as they had unique point of views, which I’m hoping will translate onto screen. They were both okay with discussing the contentious topic of gentrification and how it relates to the success of their businesses, which was the point we were most worried about discussing.
