Detailed below is a rough version of my initial pitch idea. The reason I didn’t end up choosing it as my official pitch is because it wasn’t synonymous with the values of the class and the contentions mentioned prior. Yet I would like to list it below as I believe it is an interesting topic on its own and I might explore it in the future.

 Transient Living and It’s Effect

Contention: Transient living has proven to be hard for many people for a variety of reasons but could a good suburb, filled with food people make the changes more bearable and moreover what effects does it have on its subjects?
My film will delve into the effects of transient living. As a person who has lived in such a way I have deep insight into the matter. I will also explore Coburg and Brunswick as characters, delving into the ways suburbs correlate to these stories, through personal experiences and interviews…

Quote: “Humans, not places, make memories” – Ama Ata Aidoo

Poem: Incorporate a poem I wrote somehow…

Setting: The sites explored are set Coburg and Brunswick.

Interviews:
I have consciously chosen three people who have lived transiently but in characteristically different ways. I would explore the different ways transient living had affected them…

Rory… Has moved from rural NSW to live first in Brunswick and now Coburg within three years of living here. I would explore why someone who has lived in Melbourne for three years and moved twice has chosen to live and work in the aforementioned suburbs and not moved to other suburbs.

Grandparents… My grandparents moved from Greece to Melbourne in the 1950’s. They uprooted their entire lives and chose to settle in Coburg and have lived there for the last 40 years.

Maria… My mother lived in Coburg for her entire childhood. Throughout the rest of her life lived in many homes, but consciously chose homes located in Brunswick and Coburg.

In the end I chose the newer pitch as it was more ideal and compatible to the topics explored in class, yet I would still like to explore this topic further in the near future.
