Detailed below are notes from class. They were given to us in order to help up better prepare for our pitch and have a critical approach to the formation of our ideas.

There should be steps in formulating your idea, such as:
– Define a provisional hypothesis and argument for you film
– List action sequences
– Check existing resources
– Do initial research as beyond everything, research is key.

You must ask yourself key questions such as; Are there concrete ways you can show change? Do you have access to archive of how things used to be?

How will you show this change? Through differing behaviours, discernible effects and the testimony of others? What else…

In terms of location, break down actions into different locations or events you need to film. For each possible location think who will be features, the actions that will take place interior shooting etc.

There is a certain finesse that comes with interviewing. You cannot just guess or presume to know what a person had felt and how a situation has changed them. The idea is to let them tell you, ask the right questions and in turn you will receive an interesting story, one that assumptions cannot tell.

Pitching Suggestions:
– Pitch succinctly
– Consider what is at stake?
– What obstacle must you overcome?
– Evoke interest in the proposed film
– Convince listeners that is is important, feasible and interesting
– Ask yourself, why is it important to you? …
