In our second class Kim asked us to consider what makes us bond to our neighbourhood, what makes it special and why we like or dislike living there.

For me, Coburg is home and has been for 20 years. Coburg would be defined as a residential suburb to those who don’t know it well, but to locals it has small pockets of gold, such as: the Merri Creek, the Coburg Market, the studio across the road from my house, Zataar and thats only listing a few. It is where I grew up and where most of my family resides. I went to primary school in Coburg, I have many friends in Coburg and I feel an affinity to Coburg and always will. Coburg and I will always have a great relationship because she is home for me. I’ve moved houses nine times in my life, but every time my family and I moved within Coburg. So although the houses changed I was always familiar with my surroundings and never felt out of place.

After my classmates and I stood up and told one another what we love about our neighbourhoods we were sent out into the city to take photos with our phones. I believe it was an exercise to help open our eyes and be able to find the exciting in the mundane. Here are some of the photos I captured.
