I had an observation today, about the human behaviour. Actually, I have an observation about that every day, whether I reflect on myself, my friends and family or strangers, I can’t seem to escape observing human nature. I find that this is a risky process, the more you observe human nature the more you understand it, or depending how you look on it confuse yourself. I can’t tell if it is healthy to observe human nature, it usually just makes me sad at the end of the day. If we look t how we treat one another on a global scale, it’s atrocious. We deprive people of basic human needs, strip them of their dignity and turn a blind eye. The way this works so well is the fact that there’s no emotions and feelings connected to them and their situation, that way we allow ourselves to sit back, shrug our shoulders and say ‘Thats the way it is”.
Today a homeless man sat next to me on the tram. ‘How’d you know he was homeless?” you may ask. Well, I don’t know, but I assumed through what I could deduce with my senses. He had a long scraggly beard, he was wearing stained clothes, a navy jumper and old blue jeans. His face looked as if it hadn’t been washed in a while, that was also how he smelled too. This man may have a home, he may have kids and a job, who knows maybe he was a millionaire. But he didn’t look it, so I assumed he was homeless. He didn’t bother me or make me uncomfortable. But I realised, looking around the tram, how many different types of people there are in the world.
