I didn’t quite realise getting someone to interview would be such a struggle. I attempted to find a person I was genuinely interested in interviewing, but didn’t know, in order to challenge myself. I planted myself in the world of books because, who doesn’t love a good book? I attempted to reach out to independent book stores via phone/email, to which i either got a stern “No” or no response.
I moved on to my next love which is music. I have been getting capos, tuners, picks and my guitar restrung at a local independent music store for years now. I emailed them with the hopes that their friendly personalities I would at least be given a nicely worded “No Thankyou” reply, but i got (can you guess?) nothing.
Expressing my troubles to my mum a few days a go, i explained how i’ve been finding it so difficult to set up a meeting with people I’m genuinely interested to interview, and how frustrating it is to be dismissed. Being a mother, and smart, she told me I was making it hard for myself, and that I had interesting people right at my fingertips: my family. With her wise motherly council i realised she was right, so in conclusion, my project brief 3 interviewee will be none other than my ever-interesting and extremely chatty sister, Katie, who happens to be a crazy smart lawyer. Not to shabby after all.
